Module 1: How Trauma Changes People
What trauma really is, how the brain responds, what the ACE study tells us, and the science of resilience.
Module 2: How Trauma Shows Up
Recognizing trauma responses in behavior, across ages, in the body, and through a trauma-informed lens.
Module 3: Core Principles of Trauma-Informed Care
Culture, identity, and power — then the six SAMHSA principles: Safety, Trust, Peer Support, Collaboration, Empowerment, Cultural Humility.
Module 4: Trauma-Informed Skills in Practice
Listening, validation, co-regulation, de-escalation, responding to disclosure, and boundaries.
Module 5: Caring for the Helper
Burnout, compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, warning signs, and building a sustainable self-care practice.
Module 6: Making TIC Real
Do no harm, putting skills together, trauma-informed organizations, volunteering with a trauma lens, and walking the talk.
Course Complete
